Beautycounter Holiday Gift Guide

It’s hard to believe it’s already the holiday season and it’s time to start shopping! I love creating these gift guides, not only because I know they’re helpful, but also because I personally love all of these products and love sharing what I love with y’all. And, I am very proud of myself that I’ve already started to knock out some holiday shopping. With Thanksgiving so late in the month, that means there are 9 fewer days between Thanksgiving and Christmas than usual and I would really love to enjoy the holidays and spending time with those I love, rather than feeling frazzled about finding gifts. Below is what I’m buying for my favorite peeps from the Beautycounter holiday sets.

Their products make gifting easy since I know they’re high-quality, the packaging is beautiful and people love being treated to nice products they wouldn’t buy for themselves. (If you’re not familiar with Beautycounter, this post explains … Read More

I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.
– L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

I’ve been watching the tables groan under the weight of the piled produce at the market and thinking about autumn’s slow death as we creep towards winter. There’s beauty in the final push. The baskets filled to overflowing, bunches of herbs tumbled together. And the flowers.

I stood outside yesterday–first at the market and then at home–appreciating that the sun felt warm on my skin. Our chickens (I haven’t talked about them here yet–we … Read More

Berry Banana Smoothie Bowl Recipe (with protein!)

A delicious but simple smoothie bowl recipe you can make a home. With berries, bananas, and honey on top, you’ll feel like you’re at your favorite smoothie bowl spot without the high prices!

I’m obsessed with smoothie bowls lately – case in point, see my blog profile photo (to the right on desktop, below the post on mobile). Ha! The main difference between a smoothie and a smoothie bowl is less liquid (about 1/4 as much) so it’s thicker and you can eat it out of a bowl with a spoon (well, duh…Teri).

But that’s important because then you can add lots of toppings which makes it 100x better than a smoothie. I find smoothie bowls more filling and more satisfying since it feels more like a meal. I’m just not a huge fan of drinking my meals unless I’m on the go!

Another important thing to note is that the frozen banana is key! A frozen banana adds the thickness a smoothie bowl needs, not … Read More

“Do you like waffles?”
“Yeah we like waffles!”

So goes the chanting from the kitchen the minute the waffle iron appears. There are cheers. There are wide eyes. There are squeals of delight. Now imagine when you’ve offered them up as a cookie snack.

We are well versed in the language of #willitwaffle around here, and yes, there are some things that certainly will NOT waffle. These cookies, however, were made to waffle. Any traditional waffle iron will do the trick, no fancy waffling press needed.
